We took a little tour today. Out the gate from the top of the tram.

It was VERY good.

Here's Ruthie (AKA my wife) skinning up:

Here's Connie enjoying some untracked crystalized H2O:

Here's Ruthie going deep:

And deeper still:

WOW! What a day.

Bob,

Please tell Ruthie that I don't think that she should be doing such rehab without my immediate supervision and advice!

BTW, I hear tell that Solitude got 14 inches in 3.5 hours a couple of days ago :

Bob,

I'm heading out this wednesday to Jackson Hole with my family and friends for 3 days of skiing (thurs through saturday). For the past week I've been checking the yahoo national weather forecast almost hourly. There is not supposed to be any snow from here until later in the week. It says possible chance of snow by friday.... POSSIBLE.

Please, please, please, tell me that the Teton's make weather forecastors look like fools

Yeah.

I told her that she's used up all the knee-surgery sympathy she's going to get from me.

She's skied 21 of the 23 days in January. That's after Steadman told her she could "start skiing groomers A LITTLE BIT around the beginning of January." Her second day out she and her buddies skied Tower 3 Chute.

Groomers my butt. :

Yes, the Tetons make weather forecasters (and everybody else) look like fools.

The forecast is that we fall back into a "dirty ridge" by Thursday. A "dirty ridge" is a weak high pressure system that has impulses coming through to drop snow. We usually don't get mondo proportions of snow in that kind of system, but 8" - 12" wouldn't be unusual at all. You never know, of course, but I think it's kind of a promising forecast. At least it's staying somewhat cold and the skiing is just phenomenal all over the mountain.

Here's the latest NOAA forecast:

A RETURN TO WINTER WEATHER IS EXPECTED OVER WESTERN WYOMING STARTING
LATE THURSDAY. A SERIES OF WEATHER SYSTEMS WILL KEEP SNOW IN THE
FORECAST FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY WITH SHORT BREAKS BETWEEN SNOW EVENTS.
STAY TUNED FOR LATER UPDATES ON THIS SITUATION.

There are at least two other EpicSkiers who will be here this weekend. PM me if you would like to try to hook up.

Bob,
Thanks for the encouraging word on the weather. I think I could suffer my way through 8" to 12" powder.
I'll talk to the guys and might PM you. It's a little daunting and intimidating to think that we might be able to ski with the King of Jackson Hole.

I hope to heck I am not jinxing my trip to JH this weekend by praying to the snow gods that the snow-almost-every-day pattern holds.

(on my knees) Oh please please please give us some fresh pow!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Bob for the encouraging words of local wisdom. Hope to see you there.

Just an update on the weather for this weekend. The satellite image doesn't look so hot, but the forecasters are raising the snow possibility ratings:

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.

WINTER WEATHER IS EXPECTED OVER WESTERN WYOMING STARTING THURSDAY AND
CONTINUING INTO FRIDAY. POTENTIALLY STRONGER WEATHER SYSTEMS ARE
EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS THE AREA SUNDAY AND AGAIN TUESDAY. THESE
WILL BRING MORE SNOW TO THE MOUNTAINS...PLUS A CHANCE OF SNOW TO
PARTS OF THE AREA EAST OF THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE. STAY TUNED FOR
DAILY UPDATES ON THIS DEVELOPING WEATHER PATTERN.
