Cheap Used Snowboards?

Thread Starter
Uhh.. hey guys.. I'm actually a skier but I've been checking on snowboard prices for a friend of mine for awhile. I was on eBay and I noticed some auctions that were at like.. 1 cent... with 22 hours left... so I figured maybe I could get a steal. The seller said they had more boards on their website and I took a look. Those prices are like... really cheap. Is it because they're really old?.. or is it because they're probably stolen or something?

Their prices look cheap. The boards look cheap. If you're looking for cheap gear, this place ought to be ok.

The problem with Ebay stuff is never know if it's ripped off gear or not. Anyone that is selling enough gear to have a history ought to be a shop.

I was in your boat a few weeks ago. I got the bug and found my setup on Craig's List. Not as much "inventory" to choose from as eBay, but you'll get a face-to-face meeting with a local seller and aren't subject to the bidding game.

Just like with skis, you want to have an idea of what you're looking for before you start looking, do some web searching, etc. During the meet you can check for stripped binding screws, corroded, bent or separated edges, delamination, cracks or other irregularaties.

You might also want to see if there is a Play It Again Sports or some other type of used/consignment outdoor gear store near you. Play it Again sells used and new equipment at pretty decent prices comparable with what you'd find on ebay.
