The AC3 is the first ski she has asked me to detune for her. I have been tuning her skis for many years. Granted this season more then others she has had lower level classes. I'm just tring to figure out why she is getting hung up on the tips and tails. She has been on Fischer SL race skis for a couple years, they're hand me downs from her daughter at Burke Academy. She has been on Elan M10's 170cm Volkl P50 Platiniums 168cm, Salomon X-Screams 179cm (I told her not to buy them) and Volkl 20-20 184cm over the past 8 or so years. All have been tuned by me and not detuned.
We feel the AC3 163cm is to soft ??? it is flat with the piston binding. We had a respected tech check the flex and he has said it is softer then other AC3's.
The first time I skied them on steeper groomed runs was in Utah and the tails would just not release. I think they slightly dulled themselves over the course of the week I was out there or I got used to them.
Either way it could be due to the softer tips and tails on the AC3s which help it float.
I just tuned my wife's AC3s last night to 1 and 3 so I'll see what comments she has after Saturday.
