Ski Rentals

Hello everyone. This is my first post on this forum, and I'm hoping some of you can help. I apologize for newbie-itis if this has been discussed before or it's the wrong place for it. I generally only get to go skiing about once per year, so I typically rent everything. I would buy if I thought I could do this consistently, but that isn't always the case. The past couple of years we have been going to Vail and we usually will ski some of the easier blacks and all blues in the back bowls. My biggest problem is that I have a lot of play at the top of the rental boot. It fits well everywhere else, but they sometimes feel like they are on a swivel because of the looseness at the top of the boot. Does anyone know if an insert of some sort that or some other tips that can help remove this looseness and not cut off circulation? I am almost to the point of breaking down and buying some boots, but I want to see if there are any other good options out there first. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Would wearing two pairs of thin socks or thicker socks help?
I think buying your own boots is well worth it though.
I'm wearing my new boots in my apartment as I type this (I'm getting used to them since I'm going skiing tomorrow!!)

I bought boots this year, after renting last year. I went out today, and the difference was just short of amazing.

Buy a pair of boots, you will be happier.
