Volkl P50s

Is it correct that the P50s were just made in 01/02 and 02/03? Is there any difference between those two years? This seems to be a popular ski around here.

I think they were only made in 01/02 and 02/03.
Design of topsheet was different and I guess some models of p50 got motion system bindings. If I remember correctly, 03/04 p60 is the same as 02/03 p50

P50s

I am looking at P50s in the 188cm, currently on 193 P40 F1 and love em but looking to go a little shorter. The side cut is identical on the P50 and the P40 so I shouldn't see to much difference in performance. The design of thee P50s are two or three years old and a concern is are they already antiquated. I have been skiing Volkl for a decade and have never been disappointed. There are pretty good deals out there for this ski. I've seen they recommend Markers.

Don't go from a 193cm P40 to a 188cm. I had both and the 193 was a much nicer ride in that model.

Why P50? The ebay has last year's P60 in 180, 190 and 175 for $350 without the bindings, but with the Marker's plate, here is a link: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-2005-Skis-Volkl-P60-GC-World-Cup-180cm-Piston-plt_W0QQitemZ8747082509QQcategoryZ26350QQssPageNam eZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Chris, go with the fatter ski, I skied P40 GS F1 in 193 for 4 years and last year I made switch to Volkl Gotama 183 - has great float in powder and skis almost like GS ski on groomers.

That eBay deal on the P60 is nice, but that is the race stock model. Plus, you can get P40s and P50s substantially cheaper.

Give me a break, there's no way a Gotama is almost like a GS ski on hardpack. It would be a really stupid choice for someone who doesn't ski powder and skis mostly in the East.

Is there a problem with the race stock model?! Much more fun to ski than just normal GS P60.

Since when Seattle was in the East and by the way, have you ever skied Gotamas? I didn't say that Gotamas can substitute the GS skis ( that's why I have pair of P40) but in Cascades where we often get fresh snow having wider skis makes more sence.
