Staying in Jackson?

Well, it's just been decided, jackson Hole edged out Utah for my yearly ski trip with my bud (I've never been to Jackson Hole so I'm stoked). As I peruse the list on hotels.com--I realize I need some insider info. I'd like to be in or relatively close to town (I prefer driving to the hill over driving to dinner and drinks), seem to be a fair number of regular hotel/inns in the 80-150 a night range. I do like to hit a place with an outdoor hot tub (giddy-up!). Any suggestions?? Best Western Lodge and the Jackson Hole Lodge both look promising--as well as the Trapper and some others--any advice, local knowledge or past experiences to share (oh, I'll there march 4-11).

If you want to get first box on a powder day, it's a lot easier if you stay in the village.

I stayed at the Trapper last March with my two sons. I can't remember the price, but we had a very good deal on 2 adjoining rooms. The rooms are simple but well maintained, and the place was very quiet. Dead, in fact - there were only a few rooms with people in them. Downtown is 2 or 3 blocks away. Check out the Bunnery for breakfast.

This year we are staying at the mountain, since one of my kids is competing (Western Regional boardercross finals) and has early morning practice. We booked a two room condo for $195 a night the week after you are there. I booked it in November when the race schedule came out.

I also would suggest checking out maybe a one bedroom with sofabed condo. The one with the best price would be Gros Ventre or Tensleep buildings. Great location being right across the street to the swimming pool and hot tubs which if you book thru the resort will get access to. A Sleeping Indian studio with a murphy bed and sofabed might be a better price. Several restaurants and bars/music right in Teton Village. All condos mentioned have fully equiped kitchens and fireplace.

Staying in town is a great way to go as well. The Antler is very popular and the Anvil are clean, nothing fancy. 5 min walk to Jackson Town Square.
