I know the industry trade show does not start in Las Vegas until January 23, but I though I would poll the bears to see if there is any new info available now.

Thanks to Dawgcatching for his illuminating preview of the 06-07 Head changes!

Salomon is changing their line to skis called X-wing and boots such as the Falcon.

Different graphichs for the 2007 Rossi 9S WC (solar and black). Different sidecut (straighter) and possibly a different construction.

9X will have different graphics.

In fact, the new top-of-the-line skis will not have the gold and black colors.

The 9S Oversize will also have different graphics. Probably the same geometry and construction.

It seems a new model will be offered called Mutix R11. Rossi is hoping this ski will be a hit.

Ever wanted a ski wider than your head? Shane and K2 have got you covered. Word on the Pontoon's dimensions is 154-130-120.

How about a 190 Sumo (145-125-142) or a more shapely Gotama (133-105-125)? As soon as I get on the new Gotama (in a couple of weeks or so), I'll post.

K2 is coming out with a revamped 80mm twin tip (based on the original PE) but with cap construction at $299 (Silencer I think). They also drop the Apache X, and are making it 74mm in waist with a new name (it is supposedly a little higher-end skiiing ski). And of course, the Pontoon, mentioned above.

Elan doesn't sound like it is introducing too much that is new. Not sure about the Magfire stuff, but the 777 and 666 go unchanged (not determined whether the 666 will be available in Fusion or not).

The ski I am really excited about is the Head Monster 82 (laminate)! Seems like a perfect PNW width in a very proven layup (Head's laminates, from the iM88 to 1200 SW to i-GS RD/i-Race and i-SL RD, all seem to be be similiar in feel, smooth, and powerful yet forgiving/easy to ski).

Hi Dawg:

I don't know yet-I will ask the rep when I speak with him on Monday. I would guess something that results in the range of an 18-19m radius.

Monster 82's

My Local shop received three pairs of 82's last night I will get back with the dimensions tonight. Light geen in color with the speckled finish similar to the 72 and 88.

82's

From what I remember, The Rep I talked to said that they would be a turnier ski (think more like 16 - 17 meter r) . Unfortunately, they do come in a puke green color, I think that head needs to fire its graphics team. They continously come up with pretty appallingly horrible graphics.

They make great skis though. I love my 88's, even out here in the east, They rip anything, including bumps.

The one negative is they come in completely mind boggling lengths (173 and 183, I think) I mean is that counter inuitiv or what?

Here are some of the 2006-2007 Salomon skis from japan.
They should be the same skis that we get here.

If you're talking with the Head rep, perhaps you could ask him what the difference between the 1200 SW and the i.Race is supposed to be? The 05/06 versions have the same laminate construction, dimensions, lengths, and plate - does the i.Race have a different internal construction, and what was the reasoning behind making it almost identical to the 1200 SW? Are there any changes to either for next year?
Curse Salomon for taking up the Neox after the aquisition... Curse them. There are now 13 pairs of bindings in my family that are obsolete... Time to switch to Marker I guess.
Neox has the best return-to-center force curve or any binding on the market.

Monster 72 Specs

72 Specs are 122-82-108 radius of 17.7 at 173. Actually the green color starts to grow on ya

Cheers

06-07 changes?

Rumors I heard recently indicate Tecnica has a new boot or boots to compliment the Diablo line up.

Also Nordica is possibly making the Hot Rod series a bit wider.

Anyone else hear this or something different?
our nordica rep stopped in the shop a couple weeks ago and yes there is going to be a bigger hot rod next year. It's gonna be about 84 at the waist.

Also nordica is adding a line of twin tips, including the massive blower, with a 120 waist. Think volkl sumo without the leather.
any other 2007 pictures?

Fondled a pair of the 185's at Sturtevant's (Seattle area) today. Not super stiff (softer tip and tail), but laminate lay-up and true twin tip. Could be real nice in that 185.

Can any one help me get my hands on a pair of 2006-2007 salomon skis.

Sure, that's OK for a slalom course but if you need something with a little more float Capital Skis have you covered:

155-162-133

Looks like the trend towards obesity is affecting skis as well

new shapes

Since the Volkl Gotama looks like it will get more sidecut isthere any indication the Mantra will change that way as well?

Nordica demo team on Vail today.
Hot Rods will be offeredboth in the mid 70s AND mid 80s widths.
The 80 series (around 86mm if memory serves me correctly) are termed "Afterburner" and "Jet Fuel." One has a metal sheet, one does not.
