Suggestions for a ski for me? I want to buy.

Now that I bought what I think is the perfect boot for me: Tecnica Diablo Spark, size 28.5, do you have any suggestions for a good intermediate ski for me to buy? I plan on demoing just for one day. I don't want to make a project out of it. So help me along if you can, please.

I’m comfortable on the blues now but would like to move into black diamond terrain. This winter I’d like to do the single blacks and next winter do the double. (This is my 4th winter on skis, I’m 41 and in excellent shape.)

I’m skiing on the east coast. Here are more stats if needed for your recommendations:

I’m 6 ft. 2 inches and 205 lbs.

You'll probably want an all-mountain ski (for lack of a particular focus area), and will probably be shopping the longer sizes of a particular ski line because of your height/weight (similar to me). I generally ski on 175-185cm modern skis, but it really depends on the ski type.

Where on the east coast are you? What types of surfaces/terrain do you prefer? Which mountains do you normally ski at??

I don't normally self-promote, but I am selling a newish-pair of K2 Axis X in a size that would be great for you. I also ski a 28.5 boot, so the bindings would require minimal (or no) length adjustment (ie, no remounting). I have been having a hard time finding large skiers for which the ski is appropriate, so if you're interested:

The Axis X wouldn't be a bad ski. You may also want to consider the Fischer RX-6, Atomic M:10, Volkl AC2, and others that you'll read about on the board here.

Those are two good answers to your question.
