The reason I don't believe the website is because I have been there 4 of the last 5 seasons and as a general rule of thumb the website doesn't reflected the actual conditions. This is not a complaint particular to KH, of course, it happens everywhere that a resort can promote "soft crud" to "skier packed powder", or "icy hardpack" to "firm base". Moreover, my trip to Canada is long and not inexpensive, and I'd just as soon know what to expect than go on a wing and a prayer that the website is accurate.
The understandable inclination of resorts to cast their actual conditions in a more rosy light is understandable and - in terms of attracting visitor numbers (which is the purpose of the websites) - admirable. Unfortunately it can also be frustrating for those of us who have to travel long distances to have our expectations proved wide of the mark.
I read the website and I check the conditions regularly. However, I was curious to know if anyone on this board had been recently and had any unbiased and straightforward information on the conditions.
The condition reports provided by members on this site are often detailed, clear, accurate, informative and interesting. I find that sort of "human" information more valuable than what the website says, regardless of its accuracy. Sorry if that offended your sensibilities. For the record, I note that I am not the only one asking for resort conditions on this forum. What is the purpose of a forum if not to let yourself open to conversation, debate and the opinion of others?
If anyone has in fact been to KH recently and would care to say how they found it I'd still be grateful to hear it.
