As far as good in Tahoe is concerned, I'd have to plug Alpine - get there early and you're parking about 30 yards from the ticket window and about 75 yards from the Summit Six lift which takes you to, yes, the summit and accesses some of the best terrain on the mountain. In terms of time from car to mountain Summit, I've found that Alpine can't be beat. At Squaw there can be a short walk to the ticket window/lifts - but if you want to ski high camp it's still another Funitel or cable car ride away (KT being the obvious notable exception).
Northstar, as mentioned previously, is terrible. Not only is the lot ridiculously large and winding, to get to the summit of the mountain you need to take 3 lifts after walking to the base area. 3 lifts!! Time from car to summit at Flatstar can easily be an hour on a somewhat crowded day. Yes, being able to take Home Run and ski to your car is a nice benefit, but note that you still have to get to the lot relatively early to grab a spot near where Home Run ends.
When I do make it to S Shore, I've never had a problem with Heavenly - then again I'm a big Gunbarrel fan, so parking at the california lodge leaves me a stones throw from the Gunbarrel quad, and a short ride to the top.
In general, and this is probably fodder for another thread, I try to stay away from the mega resorts with the hundred million dollar base complexes, condomuniums, cafes, and boutiques. Really all that translates to is a looonger walk to the lifts and back to the car. Thus, I usually end up at Alpine...
