Backcountry Access Denied?

Has anyone out there been denied access to backcountry due to non-safety concerns or reasons that claim safety concerns but are not?

I know in Washington State there continues to be assaults on access to public lands for skiing, is this a growing trend? If so, are we organized enough to at least give input?

The only cases where BC access was denied that I have ever heard of are:

- From a ski resort, due to avalanche or liability issues.
- When an access road is closed, for whatever reason.
- When the only access is through private land and the owner has not granted public access.
- Some wilderness or other protected habitats (generally even there BC access is allowed with non-motorized use)

Other than that, BC access (summer or winter) is a highly legal activity.
