Fix a broken boot heel?

My old boots still fit fairly well, and I would like to keep them as a spare pair, but the heel plate broke in half on one of them (the part that screws on) when I loaned them out a while ago.

Is it possible to get a replacement? Or are they toast?

What kind of boots are they? What model?

On a similar note, I've started using "Cat-tracks" to reduce further wear, but the heal and toe of my Technica boots are still a bit worn from walking on hard surfaces. The wear is not yet at the binding interface but I guess it’s only a matter of time.

The heel piece can be replaced but the toe cannot, besides which the boot has been planed so replacing things is difficult. Is it possible to build up the boot sole again, and if so what is used? When the boots were planed the heel and toe interface points were built up with epoxy however I would think that too brittle for the sole.

Cheers,

Pete

Message from Bonni she emailed to me at work.

" don't suppose you could post for me? Let them know I can't access?
Not a big deal. He just wanted to know what kind of boots I had.

Thanks, skier_j. For some reason, I am online again. :

Oboe-- burning plastic boots is against the fire ordinance in my neck of the woods.

I think I'll try that epoxy idea. JB Weld comes to mind.

Thanks for your input!

. . . but . . . perhaps if they were sent to a licensed crematorium, it would be ok if acompanied by solemn ceremony . . . a eulogy, perhaps, maybe some rending of cloth, covering oneself with ashes. How about preceding that with an Irish wake, some whiskey . . . let's give these fossels a proper send-off!
