JH March/April?

I'm in the early stages of planning a guys' JH trip for March/April this year. I have never been to JH and am really looking forward to it. We'll likely do a long weekend, and some of us may even drive up.

Anyway, what thoughts do you have for timing, places to stay, etc.? I'm starting from a place of ignorance, having visited Jackson only once, and that over 3 decades ago in the summer!

Earlier is better in Jackson. Low elevation and exposure make later somewhat iffy?

Thanks. What's early/late in Jackson?

I should have checked their calendar first. They close the first weekend in April. So, should we go early March?

Jan/Feb is prime. You can have great days later, but the hobacks can get baked quickly.

Early March can be very good. There's a little bit of a lull in the people numbers between President's week and about the middle of March.

One thing that I think is slightly misunderstood about JH is that - if you really know the mountain - spring skiing here can be superb. Because of the all the elevation and exposure variety here, there is usually somewhere on the mountain that is very good at any point during the day. If you're familiar enough to know where to go, you can almost always find some great skiing.

It's also entirely possible, of course, that anytime in March will be full-on winter. Some of the best powder skiing I've ever seen on this mountain has been in March.

I'd love to get together whenever you come out. I'll be gone (heli-skiing in Alaska, woo-hoo) from March 17 to March 26, so don't come then.

Sweet, Bob, I was hoping we could connect while we're there! I'll work around your trip, for sure!
