724 EXP for $240 for me?

I have a line on some new 724 EXP's for cheap. These are flat skis so I can use my new Rossi bindings on them. I just do not know if it is the right ski for me. I have a pair of SX11 in 170 which I really enjoy and I am not sure if this ski does much to replace it. I also have Volant FB in !75. There are several lengths available. I think I want something a bit fatter towards 80 or 84 cm and maybe a bit softer.
Me: 5'9" ,160 lbs. , vast ski experience

Get it in 163cm at your weight and height.

It is a good all mountain ski that will do everything well. If you want somthing with more float and is almost as good find the Dynastar 8000's.

I had been thinking about the dynastar 8000, but I am not sure if I cna match this price. I had thought to go with at least a 170. 163 just seems too short.

If the 724EXP is similar to the G3, as I vaguely recall, I'd go for the 170's. I'm 5'9", 170lbs, with less experience than you, and was not at all happy on 163cm G3's.

I barrowed 7/24 last season from a friend of mine. If you like The Volkl feel it is a great ski. Like all Volkls the edge hold is very good. Has a nice feel for the snow and I found it to really be a good ski for crud. The tail is a bit stiff for bumps but still Ok. I would say if you can get it ata great price do it.

Sorry I misworded my message. I did not mean to say "replace" in regards to the SX11, but rather compliment.
Thanks for the input so far.

The 724 AX3 is like the G3. The 724 EXP is similar in the tip and tail but have a wider waist. You will be happier with them in the 170. My husband is 175lbs 6'1" and has the EXP in 177. Loves it!

The also made a 724 motion which has the same side cut as the AX3 and G3 but with a little more energy. I've got that in a 170.

Hope this helps.

Any chance turning me onto that deal?

As a lot of you know I have the AX3 in 170cm, I'm 5'11" and 185-190lbs, I have it flat with the 1300 piston binding. I have the G3 in 177cm and use that for high speed cruz'in. Both are great in the bumps. I've had the G31 and G30 both in 178cm. I have demoed the EXP in 170cm and enjoyed it. I have a thought that people like longer skis until they have the skills to make the shorter ski work. I used to think the 170 was to short. But after a few lessons on the 177's instructors were tell me to go shorter. I'm glad I did.

At 5'9" 160 go with the 163 and take a few lessons with the money you saved.

A buddy here, hairybones is on the 8000 in 165cm he's 6' 165lbs. He loves them.

I may know of a pair of 724 PRO's in 177cm with motion for sale. A buddy just moved up to the AC4.

PM me if you'd like. I'm headed to VT tomorrow for two day's and will check back in Sat night. I plan to ski them on Sat.

Sorry to hi jack the thread.

Thanks Max. I'm looking for flat brand new. Volkl 7/24 exp or pro or Elan M666. Have mint 2001 MRR logic bindings ready to mount. I just bought Allstars this summer so gotta be cheap too. Probably should wait till March anyway then hunt down ac3 or ac4 flat...got my hands full enjoying the Allstars...

Also sorry to hi jack thread...

Re subject of the thread....very sweet ski! I spent a day last year on the 7/24 exp in a 177 and loved em....nearly went for em over the Allstars(glad I didn't Allstars are fantastic) I am 6' 185. Great late afternoon eastern crud buster!!!!

A two ski quiver of Allstars 168 and exp 177 or ac3/ ac4 177 would be very sweet indeed!!! That is my plan and I am gonna stick to it!!!

I could see you enjoying either the 170 or 163....I'd probably lean to longer since you already have a quiver and would likely use the exp for crud busting.....
