Fischer S2.2

Thread Starter
I did a search and was unable to find any other posts regarding these skis, so I figured I would ask directly! :-) I am looking for a pair of skis for my son, he's 16 years old, 6'1", 230lbs he began skiing at the very tail end of last season and in fact just got off the bunny slope yesterday. He's currently skiing on hand-me-down skis that have served both my wife and I faithfully for many years, but they barely shaped and like to get him onto an inexpensive ski with more shape to it. My understanding is that the Fischer S Move line is the European equivalent of the CX series here in the States, is that true? Any thoughts regarding these skis? Thanks for your consideration.

My son is the same size & age as yours. He now uses a Fischer RX-8 even though he is really just an occasional skier. I would look into a higher quality ski from Fischer such as a RX-6 in a 170 or 175cm size. A Head Monster 70 in a 177cm is a great value also. This package should sell for about $350.

The S.2.2 is an entry level to intermediate ski. If he will be a very occasional skier they will probably be just fine. However, given his size and weight something like and RX-6 would take him further and still be fairly forgiving of mistakes. As noted above, he could even go with an RX-8 which, short of racing or deep powder skiing, really has no performance barriers.
Good luck.
