Thanks SSH, I knew we could depend on you for the "inside" news...so where is it?
Looking forward to hearing the stories and seeing some pictures of the group in action.

This in after the banquet last night, from Fox:

the winner of the skis is SkierXMan, aka Mike.

The event has gone very well, with great conditions. I've been skiing with Jeb Boyd, and he's a great instructor.

Just got home from ESA, I had to ski with some guy named Rogan. Can you believe I had to follow in his tracks, (well try to) had to eat lunch and have dinner with him. Then to top it off, have him pick apart my video. Gee five of us EPIC skiers following in his tracks. Boy did we get schooled.

This well be a weekend I will never forget. After all I have read and heard about this god of skiing, he was so easy to talk to and became one of the guys as if we were all friends that have skied together for years. If anyone has ever thought about coming to one of these "EPIC events" and figured you would not get attention, you couldn't be more wrong. You well not find better instruction or more personal attention any where. Getting to ski with someone that sets the standard is a once in a life time thing. But thanks to EPIC and the amount of fun Mike was having with us, I'm sure there will be more chances to come.

Other then the Quality of the 5 coaches the other stand out of the weekend was our own Rusty. The poor guy had just completed the Pro Jam at Killington and came up to Stowe for more. We did a good job of skiing him into the ground, or should I say snow. I think he had the best fall of the weekend. Here's another way to put it, "he became one with the snow". May be that was Mother Natures way of getting back at him for all the jokes, (yea, some were funny) he told over the weekend.

There will be photo's up soon, oboe took one ride up the Gondola with us for a "Kodak Moment".

Thanks again to EPIC, for putting this together.

I got to ski Friday (alone) and Saturday and Sunday with Max Capacity, TheRusty, Ski3PO, cgeib, and that Mike Rogan person. Right from the start I knew I was going to be skiing with the throttle pretty much wide open with this crew. Everyone mentioned above is an excellent skier, so I was getting pushed in a big way. I learned a lot from Mike (and a lot of jokes from TheRusty). I also learned that Mike Rogan can make skiing wrong look right. The man isn't human.

I saw the other thread where Friday's big storm was being discussed. It was pretty sweet on Friday. Practically nobody was on the mountain -- I just got back on the lift every time. Nosedive was top-to-bottom powder bumps. The deepest drift I hit was knee-deep. You had to be a little careful as there were lots of submerged rocks, but hey, can't have everything.

It kept snowing a bit on Saturday -- maybe ankle deep or so. The skier traffic created all the snow piles which set up as the day went on making for a pretty rough ride, but we managed.

It kept snowing on Sunday too, at least at the top. It didn't amount to anything, but snowing is snowing. By far the best conditions we've had for an Eastern event yet.

My thanks to Fox and Nolo and everybody else involved for setting this up.

So Byron....

I shared a condo down at K with therusty this week. Considering how bad he was gimping around on Wednesday, I wasn't sure he'd make it to the weekend.

Was that Mike Rogan? if so that would have been a treat!. Did you get to ski any bumps with him. That's one to aspire to.

I met him a few years ago during an event at Sugarbowl. No individual coaching but I did get to watch and try to follow him (and several other examiners) down a steep bump run.:

Attention high end skiers looking for good coaching

It was Michael Rogan (PSIA National Demo Team). Who just happens to be newly hooked on teaching at Epic Ski events. For all you people who are dying for decent coaching, if you qualify for the "top" group at Epic, Michael will be available at a future event (details to be worked out). He's expressed interest in the Snowbird event. If there were more people signing up, this would be a no brainer for Weems.

BTW - the fall was after a certain someone said follow me, started Euro Carving, then proceeded to take one into the bumps and then left a cloud to cover the way out. I did ok until I noticed I was missing something (a ski). Since I've never done White Pass turns at Mach 6 on scraped off, I decided to flop on my terms and slide into the soft stuff.: But that certainly does not beat the knock out punch/sled ride that skierxman got on the first run of the event.

Thanks for the concern Epic. The shoulder started healing after Wednesday. I'll find out how stupid I've been later today after the therapist electrocutes me. More thanks to you, WTFH, Nolo, and StuC for doing all the hard work to make the event happen.

I had a great time. I've got a few notes that I will write up and post as "clinic notes" in a week or two. But I've got a lot of catching up to do first.

Sorry I missed it. Ty and I skied Kton on Sat and Mt. Snow on Sunday. We skied with "Iriponsnow" and he was disappointed he couldn't make it either.
NExt..year..I promise...next year!

Byron, FWIW, I was able to take some nasty falls even without you around.

Oh yea, he's the one. Believe me, I know about his background. I understand what a treat it was. He even had Dave Merium (sp) ski a run with us.

He's much more then "just a good level III" But don't tell him that, I don't want him to get a big head, it may not fit into the "girly hat" he had on. (inside joke)

He dropped into the bumps (skiers right) at the top of Liftline in the flat light and skied them like it was a sunny day. We 5, were left there looking in awe with our mouths open, saying how the "Hell" did he do that?

He can pick apart your skiing and give the help you need to improve. The 5 of us came away with things to work on that will make our skiing more enjoyable.

We had a lot of fun.

Phil, I'll give you a hint, start saving your money. The trip of a life time may appear here on EPIC soon.

Is it just me, or is it getting chilly?

I've just uploaded oboe's photos to my site, and will start posting shortly.

Welcome to New England. If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes, it will change. Didn't I tell you to be prepared for anything?

It was a pleasure to meet you, sorry I didn't get to spend much time with you. My buddy Frank enjoyed being in Jeb's group with you.

Thanks for all you did and are doing for EPIC.

We're still waiting for your inaugural "East Sucks" comment.

WTFH, nice picture! Who is kneeling next to Jasek (sp), and who is standing on the far right? I think it's Mr. Bearberry kneeling, but the far-right standee I have no idea about.

Based on my experiences, I couldn't say that. The only way that the weekend sucked was if someone was looking for slopes made of ice, and bitterly cold winds, then they would have been disappointed.

Kneeling is Bob Binder, and standing on the far right is Frank.

OK, I'm struggling with my net connecting here, but I think this link should work to show 48 photos, all displayed at 640x480.
Hopefully I'll be able to fix it when I get home.

Thanks for the pics

Just couldn't pull this one off. As it turned out, it was real good I didn't go. I needed to be home.

It looks to have been a well organized opportunity. Anyone care to share a piece, a tip, a suggestion? What helped you? Was there a break through? Give us something!

Keep the skis on the snow and the head in the clouds.

I believe Mike Rogan told us that or something close to it. I know he said "keep the skis on the snow", I think I added the rest.

Thanks for the photo Fox.

I'll give you a hint, I'm the one in yellow. But I'll bet a lot of you knew that. My friend and fellow Okemo Ambassador Frank is the big guy on the right.

To my left is therusty or Rusty then Mike Rogan then Chris, sorry I forgot his online name. To my right is KevinF and Ski3po or Scott (maybe we can call him, soup for legs).

Jasek (sp) is in the left front with Bob Binder behind him (thanks Kevin) then Eva in front, Jeb Boyd (almost as good as Mike) and the one you have all been waiting for, the famous "wear the fox hat", Stu.
It was a tremendous weekend. And Rogan IS amazing. He helped my technique improve enough in one day for my soupy legs to last the second day. My only regret is not attending previous years!

My wife Marcia and I had a phenomenal time, and learned more than we thought possible in so short a time. This was our first time to an Epic event -- we were welcomed and felt like a "member of the family" in a very short time. As WTFH said: Jeb Boyd is a truly gifted instructor, and Marcia's one on one time with Stu Campbell was priceless (Thanks again, Stu!). For those of you out there who are/were considering attending one of these events, we felt that it was an incredible value, and we look forward to the next one (I am otherwise commited for the Snowbird clinic, but WTFH knows where he can join me for a beer that week).
