These skis were about $50. Here are a few reasons why:
Ok..I'll wade into this one..
This will be long. Hopefully it will clarify the nonsense with thes skis/plates/Markers.
Iiirc..In the ad for these skis it is said that almost all Markers will work..except MRR.
I don't think any MRR's heels will screw on to that plate.
Some of the MRR toe's will. I have a few pairs of each kicking around here.
Just use pretty much any Marker.. (except the MRR) that mounts to a FLAT ski. With the Marker of your choice make sure that IF it is designed to work with the Marker plate that said plate is included with the binding. Some Markers will mount to a flat ski on their own. Some require the Marker plate. I have posted about that before.
This gets very confusing when you take a quick look at some Markers. Some have what looks like a riser but is just a plastic shroud. That is not removeable. Some others liok VERY similar but this is actually a plate. Like the EPS plate. These basically came in 2 thickness's. Here again..SOME Markers on these plates NEED this plate. They WILL NOT mount to a flat ski. Again..I have posted about this before. Then again..just to add to the confusion some Markers on these plates WILL come right off and go on any flat ski.
Bottom line. See Markers. Make sure if they require a plate the right plate comes with them. Make sure if the don't come with a plate they don't need one.
You should be able to pick up some Markers for these for $5-10. 14/15 din. I come across them now and again. The ones I see almost always have EPS plates with them. The 10 mm riser ones. With pretty much all the ones I see they MUST use the EPS plate. So what. These rinky dink plastic pos will only act as a spacer as the binding mount screws go through them into the ski.
Stand height. If another 10 mm is too much there is a thinner plate..but rare. If any amount is too much..back to a flat ski mount Marker.
Double stacking. I am not good at computer stuff..so I can't/don't know how to link. Go to my Ebay and take a look at some Volkl P40 Racing I bought with Marker race bindings for .99. These Markers are mounted to a 10mm EPS plate. These Markers NEED this plate. They will not mount flat, These bindings are mounted THROUGH the EPS plate and INTO ANOTHER Marker metal race plate.
Looks spooky high. The skis were as new. A very light touch up and I skiied them. You'ld surely want some solid link..stiff boot, bindings, plate, any canting/alignmnet issue. I didn't notice anything that wasn't perfect. Didn't feel like I was on stilts.
I also bought a pair of those P50 F1 skis that you and everyone else bought.
Then I went scrounging around for bindings too.
I found a pair of P50 Platinums with Marker race bindings with the EPS plate for $5. Just needed a light tune..that I was owed. Skiied them too HAHA. I peeled the bindings off for the P50 F1's that I just bought. Yes the screw pattern was the same NO they would not mount to a flat ski/plate as I have posted before. SOOooo...they can go on and I will test them with the EPS plate and see how another 10 mm rise is with these.
It is June..garage sales/Goodwill..I can't imagine you not being able to find some good bindings for these by the winter for $5 or so.
