Any recommendations for skis that are strongest in the bumps, trees, and steeps of the East? Double blacks at Sugarbush and Mad River are where I’m talking about. Skier characteristics, Male 48, 5’11, 190 LBS. 40 years of New England skiing. I have also skied Alta, Tuckerman’s, Snowbird, Jackson Hole, Squaw, Vail and many others over the years. Two years ago I purchased a pair of Volkl 5 stars, 182 CM (the originals with the white background). I loved those boards but unfortunately they delaminated in the tails. Volkl quickly replaced them with the new and “improved” version with the rail bindings. I found the replacements not nearly the ski the original was. Not responsive best describes the replacement 5 stars. Hopefully there are some good thought out there. One final word, the new boards will be approx 168 to 170’s in length.
