Hunter 12/11/2005

We (9yr old daughter and I) went up last night and skied early this am. Took a quick run down Gateway to Mossybrook to shake out the cobwebs from the offseason. Then we skied 7th Ave/Lower 42/Broadway to Kennedy Drive. After lunch we made a couple passes down The Belt Parkway but the snow was getting pushed off the trail and the crowd on the trail was too much. So we ditched the belt and went back to the mid-mountain blues.

Lift lines were great...we avoided the high speed quad and never waited more than 5 minutes...tops! To get to the top we took the B lift to the F lift. The F lift was almost abandoned. We got off the B lift and skied right onto the F lift.

There were soooo many snow boarders. I cannot stand them! Erghhhh. They plop down right on the exit ramp from the lifts to strap in, they don't even have the etiquette (sp?) to move out of the way of others. The lift opertors were yelling at them all day. Okay, enough bitch'n.

All in all we had a great day. Skied all day with little or no wait at the lifts (lifts B, F and D). Not too many obnoxious skiers/boarders using us as personal slalom poles. Weather was great.

Good to know. Thanks, Scott.

I skied Belleayre today, and it was the best early-season skiing I've experienced. The snow this morning (12/11) was nice and soft...it hardened up a little after lunch after the sun went behind the clouds and the surface powder got skied off.

Not a tremendous number of trails open, but NO crowds...never had to wait more than 2 min. for a lift.

And I agree with the dig at snowboarders. I was standing off to the side at the fork of a trail, tryiing to decide which way to go and I hear behind me, "WhoAAAAAA!" Dude on a snowboard ran into me and pushed me over. Good thing he wasn't going fast. The thing that p**ed me off was that when we both got up, he just looked at me and went on his merry way. How about a "Sorry 'bout that"?

I was at Kmart the past two days. seemed like about 40% snowboarders. That place is nearly out of control. Fortunately things will get better in mid January as Vermont just legalized a 2 week bow-hunting season on boarders starting on New Years Day. I'm calling in sick so I can be there for the duration and do my part to help thin the herd.

Haha, I'm not a fan of hunting but I could surely take up that sport!
