Sorry this is so late but this past November Sugarbowl lost a beloved member of it's family. I knew about it but did not have any details. David Van Ruiten

I was able to get the Obit from a cached version online

David John Van Ruiten, 45, of Truckee, passed away Nov. 7, 2005. David is preceded by his son, James Andrew and survived by his children Elisa, Nicholas and Samantha Van Ruiten of Truckee, the mother of his children Patti Van Ruiten, his parents George and Kay Van Ruiten of Robbins, 1 brother, 6 sisters and 22 nieces and nephews. David grew up in a farming community in Sutter Basin where he spent 20 years helping run the family business. It was during this time that he was first introduced to the Donner Summit Area by a family friend. It was the start of his great romance with this area and the sport of skiing. He instilled his passion for skiing in this children, encouraging them in ski racing, snowboarding and teaching. He helped found the Sugar Bowl Academy and eventually gave up farming and became a full time resident in Truckee, working at Sugar Bowl as Events Manager. He loved the sport of skiing and through his hard work and good times shared the sport with so many. There are hardly words to describe how much he is loved and will be missed. He was a compassionate and loving father, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will forever be in our hearts and always remembered, each in our own way, but none-the-less, as one of the greatest men you have ever known. Services were held in Truckee and Sugar Bowl Nov. 10 to 12. Donations can be made to the David Van Ruiten Memorial Fund for his children, c/o Sugar Bowl Ski Area, P.O. Box 5, Norden, CA 95724.

We hope this letter reaches everyone who was a part of Dave Van Ruiten's life. The outpour of emotion and support the week of Nov. 7, when he passed away, drew us all together as family, friends, and loved ones, and will be remembered in our hearts forever.

We would like to take this opportunity to personally thank everyone who was there for Dave and for us, his family. We would like to especially recognize: Jim Zaloga and the Sugar Bowl Ski Patrol for their immediate response and efforts to save Dave's life; Tahoe Forest Hospital Emergency Room staff and personnel; Father Stanley from Our Lady of Assumption Church; Lynn and Donnie Akers and Discovery Preschool for their organization of meals and childcare for Dave's many nieces and nephews; OB's Pub and Restaurant to Dick Howell and Mike Barna, for hosting the reception after the funeral.

Last but not least, Sugar Bowl Ski Resort and Rob Kautz and everyone who helped organize the memorial service, the Dave Van Ruiten Memorial Fund, for donations and financial support and for everything they continue to do for us.

Like many of you, we love and miss Dave everyday. Thank you all for helping to keep his memory alive
