Zacman, I've heard of the Boulder Ridge jacket but I'm not sure of its features. If it is made of Columbia's Omni-Tech fabric and comes with the zip in liner, it may be an ok deal. If it is made of Bergundtal fabric and doesn't have a removable liner, it's too high of a price. The Bergundtal fabric is typically used in Columbia's lower end products and is only water resistant and typically doesn't have taped and sealed seams. This means you'll probably get wet and cold on one of those drizzly weeknights at Ober Gatlinburg. On warmer days you’ll appreciate the zip out liner. Also check for adequate ventilation (pit zips and/or venting chest pockets). Columbia's Omni-Tech fabric is waterproof, breathable and used in their better outdoor clothing. It's slightly heavier than Gortex but is also cheaper. If you are looking for a Columbia jacket look at http://www.sierratradingpost.co,
they have several deals on Columbia stuff. Also check out http://www.campmor.com
. Brett at Alpine in Knoxville may also be able to help you find a good jacket maybe of another brand in this price range. They just had a big sale during the Labor Day weekend. Good luck!
