If I end up buying the Omecarve 10's, I'll probably go for a 165.
I just bought a pair on Saturday and am very happy. I am intermediate level, 6' and 165lbs. Conditions (in Switzerland)yesterday were glorious - empty groomed grippy pistes, constant light dry snow and good vis. Under the flattering conditions and new skis even black runs were transformed into fun playgrounds.
I was going to buy 158 cm, but both salesmen in the ski shop insisted that 165 cm would be better for me, given that I don't have a quiver of skis. They even offered to swap the skis out after a day if I didn't like the 165s.
My thoughts are that 158 might be the right choice for the Easten US (where hardpack prevails), but 165 is a better choice for the more varied conditions of Switzerland (where I will be skiing).
