Breck yesterday....cold temps, great snow. Skied knee deep stashes all over Peak 8.
Vail today....10" new overnight, 11" new from the night before! Game Creek Bowl was my first run.....epic (for a newbie CO resident). knee deep, very good fluff, untracked! My wife and I were in Heaven. China Bowl opened, so we headed over there for our inaugural Vail Back Bowl experience: DEEP harder snow, waist deep in many places on the blues and blacks over there. VERY COLD at the summit ridges (negative 22 windchill). Got our fill, and headed back to NorthWoods....deep fluff...worked our way over to Mid-Vail and went up Chair 3. Took Eagle Ridge to Avanti...complete whiteout on the ridge above Game Creek bowl. Really really tough skiing to get down below the wind, and then had a nice last run on Avanti. Then drove back to Denver....4 hours to get back home from Vail (2 hours to get from Silverthorne to the Tunnel, which was an absolute mess.....But, loved every minute of the weekend.
