Parallel Slalom - INDOORS

To help raise money for Kwame, aka the Snowleopard, aka the Ghana Ski Team, last Sunday Milton Keynes indoor slope had a challenge race. Sorry there's not too many action shots, but I thought you'd appreciate seeing the course!

That's pretty cool.

I watched something on Discovery Channel (or one of the similar channels) the other day about the indoor ski slope thay are bulding in Dubai (120 degree desert climate!), and they made mention of M/K and had a few seconds of video of it.

That monster they are building in Dubai is pretty amazing. They even built one slope that's 45 degrees. they built the concrete floor as steps so that it would hold the snow.

The Dubai slope was supposed to open in September, then October, then November, and I heard last week it was supposed to open tomorrow (2nd). BUT it may be delayed a little longer.
One of my friends went out there in August to be an instructor.

@wtfh

How did your Seth Pistols do?

Don't get offended, WTFH, but I found those pics of indoor slopes always quite depressing...

I didn't race - apart from anything else, virtually all the racers were in race suits, not just dressed like normal punters.

That looks like a slalom course, why the dual poles and flags?
post #8 of 11
Hey Fox, I guess the dual course thing is kind of new to them. They have it set wrong. One course should be red panels, and one should be blue.

Rick, I think they chose to do it that way so that they could say to the skiers/boarders that they had to ski round one side of the red and the other of the blue.

Hey WTFH, tell me more - I'm off to Dubai next month for a week. Hope to get a couple of hours sliding in when I'm there..

I'm interested in the 45 degree slope they built. Most of these indoor parks are pretty tame. Would make an interesting trip report.
