Check the data at the bottom of the forum page; Epic broke a record for most users ever online today.

Funny, that was about fifteen minutes after I logged off and went to work.

Bad news for the Ski Industry.

With the slowing of the sale of Snowboards, the forum is breaking records for users. I would imagine that is an indication that the slopes won't be as crouded as they were in the past two years. Of course you will find the most enthusiasm for the sport at this time of the year. However, I would bet that there will be more hits to snow sites this year and less activity on-snow.

User records are consistently set on weekdays, during business hours. Its not the ski resort business that is being hurt here.

Good point! guilty as charged. I'll make it up tonight

User Records and Skier Days.

Just because the records are set during business hours doesn't necessarily mean that it doesn't reflect a decline in actual on-snow skier activity. Besides this last record was set on a long weekend which is the biggest travel weekend of the year. The day after Thanksgiving isn't my idea of a regular business day. In fact it could be a big first day of skiing for many. This year it wasn't.

yeah I ski almost everyday and surf at work in the evening, usually on weekends

Why do you feel that way. Several ski resorts (mine included) had all-time record attendance last season. Here in JH, '06 season bookings are up substantially from last year.

I don't quite get how you're coming to your conclusion.

I think he's confused Bob.

I don't see what chatting on a web ski site has to do with skier days do you?

My busy times on here are usually during my morning coffee before work.

It's certainly not taking away from my skiing time. WTF

I agree.

This forum may take away some of the time I would have to do some trivial BS, but it sure as hell doesn't take away any of my ski days.

Once the Mid Atlantic ski season starts you'll notice my recurring absence here on Monday, Wed, and Friday evenings, most of Sat. and all day on Sunday. It'll be tough to tear my self away from here, but I think I can do it.

Just flurries tonight, but they're blowing snow in the PA resorts that I ski. Within a week or so I hope to be skiing again on a regular basis.

That was then, today Epic did it again. I guess people love to ski, to talk about skiing, to dream about skiing...

Another new record on 1/3/2006

Yesterday epic had 1010 users online. Almost 3X the prior record!

Congrats!

I saw that, but have to wonder how many were spiders... We need to find a way to discount those little buggers (maybe dchan has; we haven't discussed it recently).
only way to "discount" the buggers is to turn off their access but then we would not be getting "listed or indexed" in the search engines.

I think maybe it's time to work on enabling the logs system so people can see reports on traffic.

I'll see what we can do.
