who has the best snow to date in Colorado? - Page 2

I would agree with Lars about a week being too much but only if you've been there a lot.

If you've never been and if a lot of the mountain is open, then a week would be great.

Well thanks for the advice everyone. The flight is booked as is the 4WD, so am going to take the advice of many people on here and wait till this saturday to book and see where the best snow is. Would appreciate any of you letting me know closer to the time where the best conditions are at. Fussing a lot over this, though I only get one trip a year so gotta make it count!!

You should check out the colorado ski country website snow report each morning (US time) at http://coloradoski.com/snow/index.cfm

The colorado resorts are required by agreement to report snowfall in a fair and specific way and by a certain time. This website is where those reports go. I live one mile from Breckenridge, can see the entire resort from my house, and I still check this site every morning.

In Colorado once the bases get over 40" or so they become irrelevant because everything is covered and can be opened. I'd avoid resorts that are not reporting bases over 30". Other than that look at the new snowfall amounts in the last 24/48 hours. That's what matters.

Snowing very heavy in Breck right now but it's so windy the reports may not reflect it too well.

Manc:

I don't know if you will be up for it, but Aspen Highlands opens on 12/10.
The women's world cup is on Aspen Mountain and the Gin Blossoms are playing in Wagner park for free.
Town will be rockin and the skiing is really good.
