SSV and I think the lake has the recco "body recovery system"

Squaw Valley ski patrol is equipped with the detectors. The North America list is posted at http://www.recco.com/resorts/north_america.asp. A description of the system is posted at http://www.recco.com/system/info.asp.

It's not a true avy beacon, and you'll get ripped to shreds by TGR people if you believe it to be so.

Baker has a couple receivers, and you can by additional reflectors from Recco for $25.

whistler/blackcomb patrol use it. It is NOT an avalanche beacon

It's no beacon...just a passive reflector, as many have already pointed out.

My attitude is this...if you're going into anywhere with any remote avy danger, you should have a true beacon, plus this thing. Hey, the more stuff to make you find-able, the better, one way or another. Heck, if I could, I'd broadcast myself in FM all the time...All Kevin, all the time!
