2004-2005 Atomic GS11 A041114 186

What are these skis like? I'm looking at a 2004-2005 186 GS 11 with the flat beta profile and symmetrical tips (like the ones found on the shelf, non FIS-legal ski). This post http://forums.epicski.com/showpost.p...41&postcount=7 from this thread http://forums.epicski.com/showthread...ht=Atomic+GS11 has lead me to believe that is model is the A041114, with a 26ish radius. The flex would be 49/38.

What would I expect from these skis? Is this particular version especially bad regarding the "locked-in" feeling previous years' Atomics have been known to have? Is this flex pattern considered extremly stiff?

Do none of the Atomic gurus have something to say about these skis?

Locked in feeling???? I posted that opinion once, and Betaracer told me I simply need to "learn how to ski". So if you think they feel like they lock into a turn shape too much, it's not the ski, it's you.

Haha yeah, that's the impression I got as well. However my experience with all Atomics that I have tried is that they do lock in more than other skis.

Apparently the GS skis this year are softer torsionally to lessen such a feeling.

I'm not sure they are torsionally softer. They are not BETA construction, which somehow allows more edge control. Ask Logruve, he'll know!

Yeah, I guess they are. They're from last season, gray with red. Also, I would be buying them flat. Would they go better with a Rossi RK GS plate from last year and before or with a Vist WC plate?

"beta racer" huh? Must be just tooo coool for the rest of us...The GS11 is a great race ski. I have several sets. They thrive on speed and clean carved lines. If you have no race experience, its not the right one. Try a GS9-20 or 21. Good luck
