As far as the move to the new PX style...here's my take on it:
This binding is lighter.
Cheaper to build - hence, the PX12 is going to be selling for what the P10 used to sell for. So that means more people who genuinely could use the extra 2 DIN points will be more likely to buy what they need.
Elastic rear travel - the heelpiece now moves backward with ski flex, storing energy, and then releasing it through the end of the turn. This will function in conjunction with the Autodrive 2 plate we'll see more of next year.
Basically, there was nothing wrong with the old binding, but to move forward with Dynastar/Look's ski/binding/plate integration, the turntable had to go. But that's no big loss, IMO. The toepiece has always been Look's big star player anyhow, and if that's not changing (it isn't!) we're all gonna be A-OK.
