Any thoughts on Stockli DP?

Yet another newbie with a ski choice question. I have developed an unnatural attraction to a pair of 174cm Stockli DP's in a local shop. There are only two pairs so I won't be able to demo them before they disappear. I'm 5'7" on a good day and weigh 165 on most days. Probably a level 8 skier. I ski 60-70 days a year, primarily at Squaw. These would be my principal skis (for big powder days I'll rent Gotamas.) I'm generally on steep, reasonably open terrain though I do love the trees when the snow is soft enough for me to handle them at speed.

Anyone have any advice on the DP's in particular? For anything else I figure I can wait and demo. Assuming it ever snows out here. Thanks!

I have skiied the older DP and loved it. If the price is right .... do it!

I'm 185# and ski the 186's from last year...the lengths have changed this year. I love those skis, they RIP. I have skied/demoed a lot of skis including explosivs and gotamas and it's my opinion that they are probably better made and ski a bit better.

When I bought em' it was between those and the explosiv's...I'm really glad I spent the extra $$ on the DP's. I don't think I'll buy another kind of ski again....they're just so darn good!

Any ski that Dominique Perret puts his name to, is going to be a good performer in demanding, big-mountain skiing. I thought this was the fat model though... would you need to go fatter?

You're right ant - these are 125/94/111 so they are wide enough for anything. The lack of snow out here is giving me a bad case of the gimme's. Scratch those Gotamas.

Guess I'll sell my car and buy the DPs.

They used to be called Asteroids, then they tweaked the range so they could use the Stormrider name across more models.
There's a really nice little film called Namaste which shows Dominique Perret blasting down some Himalaya-ish mountains on a pair. Stockli use it as semi-advertising footage.
