Check out those job ads from the Jackson Hole link above. "Academic Coordinator" for JH Ski Club looking for someone with strong math and science skills to tutor atheletes in the evenings. Sounds like a seasonal gig made for you. It was clear they were not looking for a teacher.
Moi = mid forties, three kids, wife, dog, professional job and mortgage. No complaints and wouldn't trade my life, BUT I could never think of packing up and going for it with all my commitments. Which is all the more reason you should seize the moment when you can. Life is too short. Don't get me wrong, I am where I am because of choices I have made and continue to make. I will ski 30-40 days this year, but it takes an effort to do so.
As a civil engineer your professional life and eventual family situation will tie you down for good reasons, so live your life.
