Hey everyone,

My days off are scattered, but I want to get out skiing whenever possible. If you ski SC regularly, please post here.

I will be on snow next Wednesday (before thanksgiving) for the morning, then it's home to cook.

thanks in advance,
kiersten

Hi Kiersten, I usually ski Copper on the weekends. There's a good chance I'll be out that Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Maybe we can meet for some turns.

Tu/We guiding at Copper. Tomorrow demo days. Back guiding on the 6th. Hope to ski with Uncle Louie when he gets into town in early December.
I'll be skiing Breck in the afternoons pretty much every day unless it's a powder day then I'll be out early.

I work at Copper and sometimes can sneak away to ski at lunch. On my days off I am happy to ski anywhere -- I have my Copper pass and a colorado pass.

If you're going to be around let me know.

thanks,

I can definitely ski anywhere on Friday (preferably Copper/WP-MJ though). Looks like we have one vote for WP/MJ. Anyone else? Kiersten, Steve, Breckview?
rumor mill has it that we're opening MJ on Wednesday - not sure that it's written in stone, tho'. Skied Copper today, lots of really firm bumps for practice. It's true! If you have an employee pass from Winter Park, you can go straight to Copper's lifts with your pass (I believe it works the opposite way too).

WP/MJ's website says Nov. 23 is the date.

Any idea which areas/trails will most likely be open? They don't have any info on that as of now.

Since I live in Frisco ... I'd rather ski more locally. I have my Copper pass and a CO Pass. Local resorts also have more trails open and generally better coverage. Friday is bound to be BUSY ... I'd rather go someplace where it will spread out some.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am skiing (teaching )at Keystone almost every day. I do not have Copper pass, but can ski together at any of the Vail resorts (Colorado Pass).

It looks like we're leaning more towards Summit County now (since the title of the thread is, in fact, "SUMMIT COUNTY skiing"!).

Do you Colorado Pass-holders get to buy discounted tickets for friends (e.g. Copper/WP pass-holders can buy up to 4 discounted tickets per day (current discounted price = $27))? If so, I wouldn't mind hitting Keystone or Breck. Otherwise my vote is for Copper or Loveland.

Yes but I think the passholder has to be at the window when you buy the discounted tickets. Last year I think we got six at $35/each. Unfortunately, mine are spoken for this year.

One option is to call Breck and find out the exact pass discount details, then when you're buying tickets, find a passholder and ask him if he wants to make a quick $10. Very few of the discounted tickets actually get used. I usually end up giving mine away near the end of the season to hot girls I find in line buying tickets.

Hey folks,
Started a thread earlier today kinda related. Probably should looked here first.
http://forums.epicski.com/showthread.php?t=32040&page=2

I plan to ski Summit County this coming Sat/Sun/Mon....most likely in the order of either:
Loveland, Keystone, Breck or
A-Basin, Keystone, Breck

I was thinking I could minimize my lift ticket cost by purchasing the A-Basin season pass for $259 and use 2 of the 5 free (other location) days on this trip and the others later in the season on return trips to CO.

Does that make sense? Or are there other discounts I can find to save from paying $60 per at Keystone/Breck?
I do like A-Basin but realistically may not get in more than 3-4 days there this season.
Appreciate any thoughts....thanks.

Hi guys,

I'm coming from near sea level in Ireland for a weeks's skiing at Breck in Jan. I'm staying my first night with friends in Denver then skiing the following day on my own before they join me for the weekend to ski Breck & Keystone.
As far as sensible acclimatisation to altitude, are there other measures I should take, or any resorts I should ski that might be a bit lower as a "step" up to the heights of Summit Co.

Grateful for any advice
Cheers

Cardweg,

I can offer no help with the altitude other than the standard stay hydrated etc... But the wife and I will be at Breckenridge 8-13 Jan and if you would like to hook up then PM us. Even though the wife and I are both from near sea level, we've never had a problem with altitude in Europe or the rockie's. I think if you do a search on google, it will give you some ideas, but it doesn't mean it will be an issue for you.

Look for a thread on this in early December as we gear up for ESA.

I believe that Vail is at a slightly lower altitude. Also, search the health and fitness forum. There are many threads about preventing altitude sickness.

snow conditions

I have a Co pass and skied Keystone Wednesday. The outback gondola was running but the snow coverage was lousy. Rock skis are a must for Keystone. I thought Loveland had much better snow, but with the warmer weather they might have the same problems. I will probably go to Loveland friday. I have a Colorado Gems card so I think lift tickets cost like 30 bucks. I got the impresion from Keystones website that the back peaks had some decent snow coverage but found that not to be the case : . I can't believe a ski resort would bend the truth like that .

I will be skiing Copper on Tuesday (29th) and Thursday (1st) in the morning. Give a shout if you will be skiing on these days.

Heading that way

Hey all.
I'm heading up to Keystone for a week starting this Wed. the 30th. I'm gonna be skiing solo for the 1rst and 2nd (Thurs. and Fri.) and would like to hook up for some turns either of those two days. Loveland and A-Basin are options as well as Keystone.
I've got a huge 3/3 condo reserved that I could potentially make available for the nights of the 30th and the 1rst.

Hi Keirsten- sorry I missed you earlier this evening- the computer was on but I was out.
I will be up on Tuesday and probably on Sunday. I have a CO pass, and I'm not sure whare I'll be skiing yet- see what the weather brings!
I'll be out both Saturday and Sunday next weekend (Dec. 3-4). Would like to do Copper or WP/MJ preferably, but could do Loveland as well. Spoke with Bong yesterday, and he said he'd be up for some turns as well. So who's skiing when/where? dp, where will you be on Sunday?

Whatever.

I guess I'm invisible : . I thought I might be able to hook up with you locals, but It seems that you've got your own private little deal going on here. It'll be my first time to Keystone, Loveland and A-basin. I made the trip to WP last year and had a blast. I would have liked to explore these mountains with someone who knew thier way around.

No prob, My Pocket Rockets will continue to allow me to ski it if I can see it : .
