I got the opportunity to go skiing for the first time at Brighton today (they are the first resort to open in Utah). The snow coverage wasnt very great but I'm stoked to finally be on the mountains again!

Good Night Skiing

Ya, I learned to telemark there at night.

I've lived in Utah, but never skied Brighton. I always heard it was predominately a boarder hill.

Brighton is my favorite place in the Cottonwood Canyons for my WHOLE family... Two sons board, Alta out. Daughters aren't aggressive skiers, the Bird out. Solitude is OK. I have some great memories of the whole tribe, 6 of us, weaving down their easier runs for the last several runs of the day... the right side on the main hill (not across the parking lot). I'm getting verclempt just thinking of it, sniff... (was a great proud Dad moment).

Imo, Brighton Mountain has some of the best snowboarders in the country there. Not to mention outrageous backcountry which I believe spawns these excellent riders. Not to mention who gives a F-ing crap if there are alot of snowboarders everyone is entitled to ride what you enjoy. I think it is rediculous the way some skiers knock the boarders. They just want to have fun too! That shit has got to end some time!

boarders don't bother me too much, the last two years i have commented that they really aren't trashing up my hills too much. i feel sorry for boarder, they are caught up in a cultural movement, because for the most part i think it is an inferior way of getting down the mountain.

I don't knock them at all. This thread isn't a boarder rant.

For me, it's a safety issue. I find that boaders, especially less experienced ones, tend to drift into me on their blind side. (Where I ski - Mt. Baker - boarders outnumber skiers 4 to 1.) It can be unnerving, but it's not their fault - nobody has eyes in the back of their head.

Ha Ha - I thought this was about 2012.  Brighton opened yesterday, first ones to open in Utah.
