Looking for a fun short ski that I can also occasionally race. As I am an expert skier but a beginning racer, I don't need something too demanding. I already know that the Atomic 9.12 will work great for my needs, but I can also get a employee purchase on Fischer at the bike/ski shop I sometimes work at. I won't likely be able to demo the Fischer's, as we only stock stock skis for intermediates and rentals. How does the Atomic 9.12/SL9 stack up against the Fischer WC RC in approximately a 160/155 length for frontside groomers, training, and entry-level racing? Any other skis I may have missed, such as the new Volkl (I skied last year's, it was fun and not very demanding). I am 5 foot 9 and weigh 150 lbs or so.
Another alternative is the Fischer Race SC with Booster (115-64-97). It is the friendliest of all Fischer race skis and a decent all mountain ski as well. The "booster" is a 15mm plate that is more forgiving than the race plate.
All this is based on info we have in Canada. I am particularly interested in Fischer because I have my eye on the Sceneo S500, so I have been gathering as much info as possible. But please note that I never skied any of the Fischer skis!
