Bad News for Ric Reiter!! Heal Fast!!

:While skiing with Bears today at Copper Ric Reiter broke his leg. I don't have all the details because somehow I missed the group when it happened.

Bummer Ric!!! Heal fast and strong!!

Mend quickly Ric.
I first met Ric at ESA I where he was one of the coaches. He was kind enough to offer me a ride to and from the hill from the local Extended Stay each day.

Darnit Ric! Not to be a Pollyana, but a broken leg will heal faster and better than a torn ligament. Nonetheless, heal fast! You are missed!

Tib/fib; three places. He's getting surgery at Vail Medical this afternoon. Freak accident: his tip caught, it stopped, he didn't. Leg snapped just above the boot.

Sorry to hear this, Ric. I sympathise with you since the same thing happened to me in 1970 in Davos, Switzerland. Flat light, the left tip dug in and I skied right past it, broke the tibia in two places with a free floating bone from under the knee to the boot top and also the fibula, luckily mine was the last run of a spring ski vacation.

You'll be OK by the start of next season....and you will get a lot of reading done. My advice is in order to avoid pain, stay away from the ski resorts.

Ric was skiing with a troop of Bears, and knows that our hearts are with him. Do keep him in your thoughts/prayers.

Ric, we miss you already. Take it a day at a time and come back stronger than ever!

Jeez, that absolutely sucks. What rotten luck. And what a loss to his MANY clients, also. Ric's a master teacher, and I like many here miss his involvement. I hope they can fix the leg well, but it couldn't have happened at a worse time.

Right about now Vail SnoPro is going into surgery at the Vail Medical Center. He will be there until Sunday most likely.

He is going to get is leg put back together and a rod will hold it all in place.

Well wishes of chocolate and aviation magazines would be most appreciated, I'm sure.

Tsavo will post tomorrow as she plans to go visit.

I am so sorry! Be strong and try to "turn lemons to lemonade". As hard as it may seem at times, you can do it!

That was a harsh break for him. He was really stoic and full of good humor when they were strapping him up to take him down, but you could see the pain.

It was a sad ending to a really good time with a bunch of fun skiers.

Ric, I really feel terrible about this. I have fond memories of your instruction from my first ETU and still credit you for much of my current ability. I really hope you heal quickly and painlessly.

He was skiing on his K2s, and his binding did release clean. Just not soon enough. He was on his new Dobies.
