How does the RD compare to the Atomic RT TI in terms of fit (initial fit)? Also how does the Atomic compare to the Head in terms of stance? Is the Atomic just a bit more forward or a lot more forward?
The RD is considerably more upright than the TI. Less ramp too. The TI Soft was just brutal on my foot. Very low instep and very little overlap at the instep to modify it. I could actually put the RD on and wear it for awhile without modifications without screaming like the TI. The wrap on my lower leg is so far superior on the RD. My left boot is pretty good so far, i think I still need a little more width on the right. The RD is pretty damn beefy. I will probably end up removing the bottom screw to soften the flex some. One additional advantage to the Rd, in a 27 shell it is only 310mm. This helps me because my right foot measures a 26 & left a 27. The RT Ti is 313 as is my X2's and the stock Lange 120 Comp in a 27 just for comparison & I believe the T11 is 317mm in a 27. I have wide forefoot skinny lower leg & fairly high insteps! Also put booster straps on, and on this boot they are above the cuff so it does give me some additioanl controlled flex compared to the unforgiving HEAD stock power strap. Also put 5mm risers on them.
The main issue to me is stance. the RD put me in the best stance, and the fit issues we will deal with through grinding and so forth. The fit issues & Flex are easy to modify but the stance of a boot is much more difficult to change.
