CO winter prediction

Hello all,

I don't post much here and, in fact, I think this is the first thread I've started. Figured this would be a topic of interest to all and thought I'd share (and say hi).

Given the 70 degree days we've had here in CO lately and are predicted for this weekend this is welcome news. This was the headline of an article in today's Daily Camera: "Mountain Areas Can Expect Wet Winter."

This winter will bring more snow than usual to the mountains, says Klaus Wolter, a scientist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the University of Colorado.

"It looks like the mountains of Colorado are in for a wet winter," Wolter said. "It's not for sure, but the odds are tilted toward it."

Wolter believes storms from the Pacific Northwest will most likely reach Colorado this winter, which make the conditions wetter than average. His prediction is based on the idea that El NiƱo will not influence the weather patterns of North America this year.
