I would tend to agree with this, given Mark's size. I'm quite a bit smaller (was skiing at 180 that year), although I was in his position in terms of just beginning to learn "modern technique". I think that those skis would feel different (as in "better") now after two years of working the technique.

Or we could blow all of this away and suggest a Nordica Hot Rod. I've never skied them, though, so can't speak from personal experience. However, those who have skied them had very good things to say about their versatility. How's that for throwing in a twist? Sorry...

My 2 cents:
You weight 230 lbs. Get the stiffer WC SC. Get it in 170cm 14-m sidecut (longest size). Get a 2004-2005 or a 2005-2006 model; the earlier ones had a steeper sidecut.

You'll love them. They're my favorite hard snow ski.

Haven't skied your mountain, but lived in Michigan for a while, know the U.P. areas. Seem to recall from that time a lot of Volkl Vertigos on the patrol folks, some Bandit X's, Atomic R's, other fairly versatile, stable boards that you'd want if you were on your boards all day and maybe guiding a sled. Never saw a racing SL, but that might have been my lack of looking, and obviously technology has made a few strides since then.

Props to the guys at Ski Depot. They are a first class outifit and I will gladly recommend them to anyone that will listen. Of course, I like Cupolo's too....
