Last season he was on some Salomon XScream 130 cm demos. I saw a pair of Salomon Scrambler 4 skis at 140cm that the ski sales guy recommended. Ski and binding combo for $309.
Given your son's height, weight and ablity, I think the 140 is on the small side for him. Rule of thumb for kids is, if in doubt, go short. But at 5' 2" and 120lbs I think a 150 would be bang on, and you should get two years out of them. 140 would work if you were looking at a slalom ski, but that wouldn't make sense for his above noted preferences.
If you are still looking in the 140 range, I have a pair of 142 Volkl Jr P50s that have two seasons on them. These are a top notch pair of skis that were well looked after. They don't fit my daughter any longer, and I will let them go cheap. PM me if interested, but I think you are better off seeking out a pair of 150s. Check Ebay. You can do better than 300 for kids skis, even new ones
