Is the report post button broken? I can't see those now but there was a blatant one I reported and nothing happened.

Others have claimed to have reported those posts as well. I reported blatant racist posts in the Lounge during the post-Katrina fiasco. Nothing happened.

We can only wait now and see if dchan's stated plans are carried out. If a blind eye is continued to be cast on posts like these, in spite of reporting, then we will understand - and many of us will leave. No banning will be necessary.

He has made a promise that he will no longer allow these types of posts. It is not until promises are made and broken that we can understand the true intent of the promisor.

I for one hope that the past lack of enforcment was an oversight, or that if nothing else these threads of recent days will have served to change the overseers approach, in the interest of protecting the future of epicski.

It will be most unfortunate indeed if not, for slowly, but surely, epic will become comfortable to a smaller and smaller group - leaving a void, which will eventually be filled elsewhere.

I am personally offended by the use of the racist word "overseer". The overseer was one of the most feared tools of the plantation system - the one who carried and used the whip. The overseer represented the oppressing hand of the plantation owner and the use of that word here CLEARLY indicates SMJ's latent racist bent.: : I will be reporting this post to the administrators and I hope that the rest of the Epicski community will join me in ejecting this racist satan-sucking pus bag from our righteous midst.: :

I would not personally use that hateful word for all the tea in China...... oops, my apologies to D. Chan for using an expression which may offend his Asian ancestry.

Dictionary
overseer noun a person who supervises others, esp. workers. ORIGIN late Middle English (also denoting a person appointed by a testator to assist the executor of a will): from oversee .

Thesaurus
overseer noun they finally brought in an overseer that knew how to deal with the workers supervisor, foreman, forewoman, team leader, controller, (line) manager, manageress, head (of department), superintendent, captain; informal boss, chief, straw boss.

The Overseer problem only applies to Americans though. You can use the term at us non-Americans and it'll be OK.

Gee, I was a bit more direct and posted the following in wbron's thread at TGR:
Quote:
Concerning a previous bet....
wbron KTO 91.5 shares at $9.46/share = $865.59
cirquerider MTN 30.385 shares at $32.25 = $980.92

You forfeit (banned). You owe me those two rounds.

Professor, don't you think its a bit disingenuous to come here badmouthing your previous family? Learn some control. You will do better if you are yourself...maybe. BTW, you are starting here just as you started at Epic. When is the next poll? One last piece of advice...Never invest real money in a loser. Its like you never existed at Epic. No name, no search function. You're gone. Erased from existance. I feel like watching Back to the Future now. See ya.

I'm not sure what is funnier, y'all stumbling over yourselves posturing one way or the other, or Wbroun's pathetic attempt at making new friends.

Either way, thanks.

Glad this has been entertaining for you BobMc. Let me spell out what was not so entertaining:

1) How the administrators failed to take decisive action when faced with clear racism
2) How people have managed to twist words and meanings (see racist, overseer, hate, lynch-mob) to suit their pacifist attitudes and political correct inclinations.
3) How people failed to recognize clear racism when it hit them in the face
4) How twisted freedom of speech and expression has become when it is used to protect one of the worst forms of persecution.

Still think it is funny?

Another vote for giving you all your own show on Comedy Central.

What hurts more, your lungs from the choking effects of the rampant wildfire of racism burning through your minds due to the arsonist Xdog, or your arms from endlessly patting each other on the back for this valiant crusade waged by adding you names to the bottom of a petition so desparately needed to keep the big boys at TGR from mocking you? (Actually, you could bring that list to cocktail parties to prove to your peers that you're not a racist). :

But who will step up now to lead you into battle after the capture of your beloved leader by the wicked moderators? Your regiment is in disarray.

Oh, watch out, there's another locust in your spritzer. :

carvemeister,

When racism will affect you directly, you may change your opinion. Until then stop these stupid posts, because you sound like an idiot.

Give it a rest, bub. I don't condone racism - feel better? Of course not - I'm just an apologist because I don't march along with mobs when they over-react and try to convince everyone the sky is falling. I'll consider not posting nonsense just as soon as you do the same. Bad form.

As an Idiot, I find the co-opting of the collective noun that heretofore was used to describe my tribe, for use as a derogatory term used to signifiy derision and disdain both insensitive and demeaning.

Hrstrat57, clear your inbox, its full. wbron had second thoughts and deleted his thread on TGR. I think he is making progress. Now, if this misguided thread can also go away, the healing can begin.

No worries ant, you misunderstand me, I won't out him. My point was think before you post garbage. Here or on TGR. He just deleted his foul mouthed comments on TGR so I guess he got my point. That's progress. I won't out him, but somebody might have. His place of employment and favorite local ski area was common knowledge revealed in many threads on epic. My post was long for sure. If you think it was weird well maybe it's just me.....I'll gladly go away....and you all can enjoy your continuing "got nothing to do with skiing" flame war.....and perhaps watch your forum die as a result if it remains unchecked.

My wishes were heartfelt. Sorry you didn't get it. Appears my time and effort spent here was meaningless.

Whatever, doesn't matter.....I tried...perhaps it was a lame attempt, I dunno....

As you clearly found the post offensive I will attempt to lead by example and delete it. Contibuting to a flame war in any way is not who I am.

Thanks

I know the "report a post" button is not broken however The email server a huge amount of content filters that actually delete rather than reject and notify someone. Most are very specific filters such as specific banned words. If some of these words were in the email generated by the "report a post" It's possible the emails didn't get through. I'm adding a new filter to correct this possibility so that any mail being sent from the report a post mail box will not get filtered at all. If those posts had been pointed out and we missed them I am sorry. I would have deleted them right away if I knew about them.

As far as this whole racism thing, I do not support Racism in any form. nor do I support bigotry. This being said, I also try not to judge a person by their beliefs. If someone outwordly racist came here and posted only good info about skiing and left their racist beliefs outside the forum, They are welcome to post here. The same goes for religions, sexual preference, Creed, race. If you have a problem with that, then you can go elsewhere. If you find that offensive, don't expect me to edit/moderate or delete the post or thread because someone you don't approve of posted it or mentions it in their thread. I don't know how much more clear I can be about it.

On another note, Privacy is a huge issue I'm sure with everyone. If you know where someone works, but they have not posted any info regarding that, Please respect their privacy and leave anything outside of this forum outside...

My daughter came up with a good saying the other day talking a completely unrelated matter: "Just because you don't like the messenger, don't burn the message."
(and don't bother saying the messenger is the message, 'cause it often isn't)
