I should take a photo of my foot and post a link.... Yes, it is narrow at the heel (and shin). I think only one of the guys I saw had any real knowledge of bootfitting. The others, well the stores just hire kids. Who wants a snowboarder fitting ski boots?? I mean this guy was trying to force my size 12 feet into size 10.5 boots. COuld I wear those boots- sure, and in one day I'd have black and blue feet and lose all my toenails.
I went in wanting the Diablo Race boots, and the left boot actually didn't feel too bad, so a good bootfitter could have probably done some shell work and gotten a decent fit with the right boot. Still, these are so much lower volume boots and considerably stiffer, I think the Diablos would be a much less forgiving boot in bumps and I just wonder how comfortable they'd be skiing a long day.
One good thing- the Mags are much lower volume than my current boots (Salomon evolution)- when I put them side by side the Salomons were probably 1 cm longer and much bigger. My current boot is for a HV foot, so the Mags will def. give me much better edge control. My new Tecnicas are an 11.5, whereas the Salomons are a 12.5...
I;d like to hear other people's opinion about shell fit and also if a new boot should be bought 1/2 size smaller than your normal shoe size?
