No, I am gonna give it to my in-laws as a Christmas present for their ski house. I thought of it while doing the trophies.

It looks great. I'm sure they'll love it.

I thoght you were gonna say, Marker who?

Marker on your face from a prerelease.

That's really neat. I had that heel peice on my K2 812's. I think it was about 83, would that be right?

You're a creative genious! There's got to be a buck in this somewhere . Of course the subset of guys that would buy that probably only consists of me and the rest of Epic Ski.

I'm sort of surprised not to see a Look Nevada heel piece here. Nothing could have the door thudding impact of that piece of cylinderical steel. Nice project, and those rotomat heels never pre-released.

NOw I gotta go out to the barn and get those old Kastles down and unmount them so I can have one of those "newfangled" door knockers.

812's were earlier, 1980 they came out for the Olympic year with Phil and Steve Mahre on them. They replaced the 810's. The heels are from some MR's for 89, Twincam toes not the 4 pivot toes from the earlier generation. These heels only had one day on them, so they are near perfect.

Now if it would just open a beer ...

It's gonna be a drafty and cold ski house if that door keeps pre-releasing!

Clever work, Phil. Sometime how about a thread, things to build with old ski junk?

Okay, I hate to do a one-up on this, but it makes me think of doing something similar with my old Gertsch bindings. There's got to be a lot more ding-dong in the Girtsch plate then that lightweight Marker heel piece.

I also strongly suspect the Girtsch plate will work as an opener.

Oooof back to the drawing board... I tried to shortcut the last coat of poly and dry it in the oven...big mistake. It bubbled all over. No biggy, I wasn't totally happy onhow the KNOCK came out anyway.

that is Awesome!
Great job, I have an old set in my attic I am going to look at, and see if i can do a similiar thing.
Thank you!

Maybe use a gouge to hollow out the back for a deeper/mellower/louder knock like a guitar box????
