That may be true, but I think many of us "flatlanders" miss some great skiing because we tend to flock to the mega resorts. Call me crazy, but one of the best skiing days I've ever had was at Ski Cooper on a day with knee deep snow and the mountain damn near to myself.
I'm definitely going back there. BTW, for those that haven't skied there you should give it a whirl. It also has cat skiing for under $300 per person.
We love Vail/BC, Breck. Keystone and the like, but my kids and I are planning a trip to CO this winter where we travel around and hit only the non-mega resorts.
