Been offered an exceptional deal on the Mod-X in a 181. I am a 180 pound skier at 5`10`` and am looking to gain more experience off piste (I have very little at the moment but can ski pretty much anything on-piste with confidence). I had wanted to demo the mod-x and the mod-x pro but it looks like I won`t have time before my trip. Will the mod-x be a better ski for someone of my ability than the pro model (don`t want to end up with a completely uncompromising ski) Thanks guys.

I think you are on the right track. Check the other ModX threads on this site for more detail. There have been many very favorable comments about this ski. And, you are right, the ModX is softer than the ModX Pro and makes a good ski for an advanced/expert skier on all mountain terrain, especially if you are not that heavy. The 181 length should be OK. Maybe a 188 for stability at top end speeds.

Thanks for the help guys, I think I will go for the 181. I know I will sacrifice some top end stability but I hope the ski will be a little more agile in the bumps and in the trees.
