I usually do one or two steep, I mean really steep runs every weekend. I was talking once with an older guy who pretty much skis steeps only, run after run, day after day, all season long. He told me, when you're on the steeps, "just think about what you're doing," as in, don't think about your last run, don't think about your next run, don't think about what's for dinner, don't think about work tomorrow or your girlfriend tonight, 'cause all of that's irrelevant if you **** up on the steeps. Just think about what you're doing. Sometimes, when it's steep and slippery and hairy, it calms me to remember those words.
