Ah come on you're joshing me, I've read your posts, you're a bright bulb.

Aw, gee! (wish I knew how to make a blushing smilie) Sure I'm joshing, kind of.

Another thing to check out is the Subscriptions page, where you can set when you want to be notified of new posts to threads you've subscribed to, Instant, daily, etc. I've found that useful so I dont get interrupted at work with new posts to threads that are too active.

When you post to a thread you're automatically subscribed to it, if your Control Panel settings are set for that.

I go to forum page and then click new posts. I also go to the CP to see what's gone on with subscribed posts. Except today when I couldn't get into the open instructor's forum on the new posts so I started sniffing elsewhere.

Why can I not get onto the thread 'Open instructor's forum'?

I see this all time too. It's very annoying. I'm always missing a few new posts or new threads. And I don't know it until the next time the 'new posts' list picks them up.

This doesn't happen on other vBulletin forums I visit, ... that I can tell.

It might have something to do with the inquiry number expiring. Last night, I'd been gone three days, so New Posts was like 10 pages long. I started with the oldest and basically at midnight decided it was bed time. I left things on page seven or eight and when I tried to go backwards to the next page, it gave me an error message. When, in frustration, I hit "New Posts" again, I only got the three pages that had been generated since the night before. I looked at what the nonworking query was and as I recall there is something about inquiry= (or along those lines). So I am thinking that the query expires after it gets too old. Frustrating.

Perhaps it was a thread in one of the ~8 forums I don't have access to.

and etc...

That is the exact message, I just don't know why the thread showed up under new posts. I've never seen before.

Can I change my answer to Yes? Or 3 of 5 or something?
I see this is an old thread, but in case you are still wondering about this question:

I click through from my email notification when a thread I've subscribed to has a response. Once I've read that thread, I click on "New Posts" to see what has been added to the forums.

I chose "OTHER"

I keep myself "logged in" and just check "Today's New Posts" first thing.
