Just when you think you've become immune.....

A couple of thoughts and a question....

1) McBride said. “We didn’t train today – we had a giant slalom session planned – because it snowed avbout six inches last night, but that’s the only snow we’ve received."

Probably some of the only skiers around right now that arent happy that they got 6" of fresh snow. :

2) Love the Ultra High-Tech attachment apparatus used to secure the forearm guards. Anyone know where I can get some of those.

And now to the question....as someone that has "watched" ski racing in the past but only once I started skiing did I begin to "pay attention", is it an optical illusion or are Bodes lifters way taller than what you would see on the average non-racing set up? Just curious.

I don't think you're seeing lifters. From that angle, it looks like a dark lifter under a white ski boot. But I believe those dark spots are the toepieces of the binding. Also there is a limit on what's allowed for lifters. So although they're higher that what a most people use, they're not as high as non-racers can put on their skis if they choose.

Yeah, duct tape rules. Dave Barry has written that if women ever discovered that all men knew was how to use duct tape that we'd be out the door.

Weems, we know about the duct tape, but still love you anyway.

Bonni,

My wife isn´t happy about my inclination to use the tape exceedingly. She wasn´t much enthusiastic about my beloved summer (i.e. spring through fall) sandals surviving another year...

Glenn,
The times of my Atomic Superplate 28mm on ARC 24 are over.

I made my business card holder out of duct tape. It's a beaut little box/sleeve that holds about 20 of them without being bulky. I might make a special lid for it this season!

Ant, you can make a pretty penny these days selling that very sort of duct tape couture on the streets of Manhattan!

aw, but it's more fun to devise things out of it for oneself. I looked and looked for a suitable thing to hold them in a ski school parka pocket, and got desperate and the duct tape appeared. It's that fibrous blue stuff too, not the rubbery silver.
The Prince of Duct Tapes is, however, Nashua brand.

every where but the ! ...

About the only place I haven't seen duct tape used was in the Victoria's Secret catalog!

What?

>>World Cup champion Bode Miller (Bretton Woods, NH), Daron Rahlves (Sugar Bowl, CA), Dane Spencer (Boise, ID) and Ted Ligety (Park City, UT) – all of whom took part in the slalom/GS camp last month in New Zealand – head home Friday.<< Seems like heading back to Franconia wouldn't mean he would be skiing much.

Real men don't use bandaids, a testimonial:

My sweetie cut his thigh with a disk grinder. The speed at which the implement pierced his flesh cauterized the wound, so the bleeding wasn't too bad. His first aid kit was across the room, but the duct tape was nearby.

The next morning I notice that he's dressing coyly, avoiding eye contact, turning away from me like a new bride. I chase him down and see that he's sporting a healthy amount of duct tape around his upper leg. What a mensch! What a product!

That whole Bretton Woods thing annoys me

He grows up skiing Cannon but because BW buys him a house, names a run after him, and probably pays him, they are now his home mountain.

What a joke

nolo......and a hairless band 2 inches wide around his leg......

Gee, Scalce, can't a guy sell out? I'll bet he skied on clipped tickets when he was a kid, too.

A New Hampshire product, just like Bode. That explains it.

Thanks Weems. Looking at the picture again, with an experienced eye explanation, I can see how I was misinterpreting what I was seeing.
