My pre-marriage/child idea was "cut all of my ski equipment purchases in 1/3s. Purchase 1/3 every year. Nothing would be older than 3 years" It worked for the past 8 yrs. Did not account for Spousal Love.
Purchased the wife skis, coat, gloves, boots etc 2 yrs ago. She is a great skier--from Florida and would rent or borrow. She did not want to purchase skis but standing in rental lines was killing me--you all were getting the fresh. Purchased 1.25 C engagement ring and 1 C wedding ring last year. Who would have thought I would purchase ICE?
For me: Last year got new coat, gloves and sunglasses. This year I made the ski purchase but feel guilty.....I made it 1 day after discussing the fact that our budget has been quite tight lately. OOPS. TIMING IS EVERYTHING. I am sure I will get over the guilt---Skis should be on the door step when I get home tonight.
My excuse was, "I will be very nice to the bottoms so that my son--Lange--can use them when he grows up" Its a two-for.....Knowing full well that dad will be in the shop salivating over the new 2020 (year) ski models.
