You can be an expert level 9 skier and be rather clueless about the latest and bestest skis. I am a level 9 skier and right now I don't have a pair of skis with under 300 days on them. I really need a new pair of skis this year but I really don't have a clue what I will buy or what is available. Right now that would include length.
Its quite conceivable that I would go into this forum and ask what the latest and bestest is based on what type of skiing I do. I could answer that if I wanted to wade through several hundred posts or I could get it direct by asking. I just nota gear whoe.
This is the kind of boat I am in, I took a job two years ago in LA which cut my availible ski days down to 20 or less, to compound that issue I blew out my left ankle and lost all of last year. so I have not looked at new gear in about four years, things have changed and its tough to keep up with it all. So now I am an ex-racer, ex 80 day a year guy who is lost with new gear and sizing and I would like some help, so why jump on someone like that?
Other wise I'll still be rolling my 198cm Volkl P40 RC's and bashing bumps and pow in them? The seems to be new gear that would do this better than what I have, friends are pushing me towards the gotama, I am looking at the legend pro, but lost on size most people want me in the mid 170's but I would be more comfortable on a 185 or so, but here go short enough and you start to wonder. So like the thread starter, I am a level 9 guy, at 5'10" 180LBS and dont know my exact size, I would like to get some feed back so that the pot-smoking help at my local ski store doesnt decide my demo sizes and put me on the wrong skis.
According to that chart I should be a 185-190 which makes me comfortable but am i just resisting change?
