Boy you guys have been busy.
SNP, CR, SR, H57, JJ and others, thanks for putting things into perspective.
HS, I do respect that you have a right to your opinion(s), but I do not agree with it (them). But, that is what a "forum" is about, opinions.
But, as some have stated (no flame), your delivery leaves much to be desired. Additionally, once we have debated one topic (ski size vs. skier size - already debated on another thread) to conclusion, you start off onto another (Markers suck - again already debated) and another (Mantra glorification - debated) and another (my DIN setting is higher than yours - debated). None of these tangents have anything to do with the question of Mantra mounting point, which is what this topic was originally about (a 0.6" difference in mounting).
I provided my opinion based upon my knowledge of the ski (Mantra), my background in the skiing industry, and the tendency of a lot of buyers to buy too long of a (any) ski. Can they ski a longer ski? Well, yes. Can they ski how it was meant to be skied, probably not. Would they have a much better time on a shorter ski? I believe so, and that's my opinion.
Yes there are a few "hard chargers" out there skiing a 201 Stockli on DIN 13, and if you are one them, well congrats to you. But realize most of the folks looking for answers to their questions on Epic are not going to be in that league and you need to tailor your recommendations based upon the information they are giving you. Don't recommend a ski/boot/binding that you'd be on, recommend one, that based upon the information given at the time, would be the best fit for that skier, based upon your knowledge.
If you want your opinions to gain a little more respect within this forum, a better delivery of your opinion (not verging on flaming anyone) and a little more on your background (other than I know an ex-porduct manager - I assume you mean Ivar) would go a long way to boosting one's integrity.
BTW, I'd think you'd have a better time over at TGR.
